I was wondering what would be a good glassing schedule for a fish that will be around 5' 10". Strength and weight are equally important to me so I was wondering what would be kind of a happy medium. If there is none what would you suggest. Thank you
A standard glassing schedule for a fish type surfboard is 4 oz bottom, 4 oz + 6 oz on the deck for an optimal strength to weight ratio. For a 5'10" surfboard you'll need 4 yards of
4 oz fiberglass and 2 yards of 6 oz fiberglass.
Place the 6 oz cloth on the deck first then the 4 oz to save weight in the hotcoat since 4 oz is a tighter weave and uses less resin.
What is the other dimension, i.e., 24"x ???. Is the weave balanced?
The 1.5 oz fiberglass cloth is 24" wide and sold by the yard up to 50 yards on a continuous roll. The weave is balanced 50 warp / 50 weft.
