The new Essential box eliminates that additional high-density foam perimeter, making the box simpler and less expensive. An excellent choice when keeping construction cost down is important and the board doesn't require the maximum possible fin-box reinforcement.
FCSII Essential vs. Premium: Which One Should You Use?
For most everyday surfboards, the Essential box makes a lot of sense.
If you're building a standard shortboard, funboard or everyday board and you're looking for a way to reduce component costs without abandoning the FCS II system, Essential boxes are an attractive option.
They're especially interesting for production builders where the cost of every component matters.
But there are situations where the Premium box is still worth the additional money.
Choose Premium when:

You're building a high-performance custom board.

The board will be surfed hard.

The surfer is heavier or particularly powerful.

You're building a big-wave board.

Maximum fin-box reinforcement is important.

You're trying to build the strongest possible installation.

The board has a very thin tail or limited foam surrounding the box.
Choose Essential when:

You're building an everyday shortboard.

You're producing boards where component cost matters.

You want the FCS II system without paying for the additional reinforcement.

The board isn't expected to see unusually high fin loads.

You're comfortable providing appropriate fiberglass reinforcement during the installation.
Requires the Greenlight FCS2 Install Kit or the FCS II router jig and pattern bit for installation
Available in the following fin cant degrees:
0 degree (center fin)
5 Degree (typically used as quad rears, or create more drive as front fin cant)
9 Degree (typically used as front fins for looser turns and control)
