QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
I believe for the tri fin setup I order #2 canted fins and they come automatically 1 left and 1 right and order #1 0 canted fin for the center fin? Correct?
Yes that is correct. The FCS II fin boxes come in a set of left and right side fins, the center fin box has no cant built in (0 degree cant)
Which quantity and degree should I purchase for a standard thruster shortboard
The degree of cant in the fin box depends on how you want the board to perform.
Choose 5 degree fin cant for faster, down the line surfing. Choose 9 degree fin cant for more turning ability as the fin pivots quicker at a higher degree.
You'll need a 0 degree centerfin box too of course for the tri fin set.
For quad fins choose 9 degree for the front fins and 5 degree or 3 degree for the rear fins depending on your speed vs. turning preference.
More info on fin cants, toe in, and positions on a surfboard can be found in our Surfboard Design Guide.
When do I install these fin boxes? Before of after lamination?
FCS II Keyless Surfboard Fin Box System is set in pre lamination.

If I am trying to do a 5 fin set up, which fin boxes do I need to buy?
An FCS II 5 fin setup can be done with a set of 9 degree, 5 degree, and a single 0 degree box as a standard setup.
I want to do a 5 fin setup. Either thruster or quad riding mostly on big hollow days. What do you suggest?
Thruster fin set for head high plus waves, the speed is already there from the wave steepness.
Quad fin set for chest high and below for more speed and fun.
If I need three fin boxes for a thruster set, what would I put for my quantity?
For a thruster fin setup you need to order (1) FCS II Center [0 degree] and (1) 5 degree or 9 degree set [sold in pairs of left/right]

I am working on a wakesurfboard, what fin cant and design do i need?
It's up to you what fin cant to use on a wakesurf board. In general 5 degree will provide speed to keep in the wake pocket easily. 9 degree cant will be looser and turn faster but a little slower from more drag.
Hey, I'm building a 6'2" wooden thruster and I want to use this system. How do I order three though? I'm thinking 9 degrees for the outside two and zero of course for the third. Can I order only three?
FCSII fin boxes are sold in pairs (one left and one right) for the front fins, the center fin is sold as a single (zero degree)
which degree do you think i should get for a retro twin fin
Use 3 degree cant FCSII fin boxes for a retro keel fins
How would FCSII system be installed on a board with a dark pigmented bottom?
