QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
When do I put the carbon fiber on? Place the tail patches under the deck lamination and glass it all together?
The carbon goes directly on the foam and is laminated the same time as the fiberglass. A nice trick is to lightly spray the area with 3M Super77 and adhere the carbon to the foam first so it doesn't slide when wetting out the glass and carbon.
Just a question, does the plastic parts dissolve under glassing process? How does it work?
The plastic film is peeled off the carbon fiber reinforcement before glassing it to the surfboard. The plastic film is there to keep the carbon fiber in place during production and transport.
I'm considering using this on the foil mast to add a little strength, any thoughts?
Yes, adding carbon fiber reinforcing strips to a foil mast will stiffen it and help transfer energy to the wing for quicker turning.
